This week, I’m noticing a heaviness in myself.
It feels like the accumulation of the world we’re moving through, the kind that settles quietly into the body before we have words for it - and then we feel all at once.
So today’s wisdom is simple. It’s a pause.
Take a moment.
Let your body catch up to where you are right now,
not where you were five minutes ago
or where you’re about to go next.
Notice your shoulders.
Notice your jaw.
Notice your breath as it moves in and out, without trying to change it.
Place one hand on your chest or belly.
Take a slow breath in through your nose.
Let it out through your mouth, steady and full, as though you’re making room inside.
Feel your feet on the floor.
Feel the chair or couch supporting you.
Feel the ground beneath you.
Let your body register that you are held, even briefly.
Ask yourself, gently:
What would help me feel a little more grounded, right now.
Maybe I need a glass of water.
Maybe I need to stand up, stretch, or move.
Maybe I need to slow down my pace for today.
Or for the next conversation
Or email.
Or task.
As that steadiness begins to settle, notice how it moves with you.
It shows up in your tone.
It shapes how you listen.
It softens the space around you.
In a time filled with noise, urgency, and hard news, choosing to pause is an act of care.
It doesn’t erase what’s difficult.
It helps us stay present with it, without becoming overwhelmed by it.
Take this breath.
Then take the next step.
